Next Brechfa Forest Community Stargazing Event

24/09/2023

The next community stargazing event will be held at Canolfan Waunifor and, if weather permits, the Dark Sky Discovery Site at Mynydd Llanllwni.

After the success of three previous community stargazing events in Llanpumsaint, Llanllawddog and Brechfa, it's the Waunifor Centre at Maesycrugiau's turn next.

The evening will start with the unique experience of stepping into a planetarium to discover the wonders of the night sky from the comfort of your chair.

Allan and his team from Dark Sky Wales will lead you into deep space as you look up and see the moon, planets, constellations and galaxies.

After the planetarium experience, we'll have some soup, bread, cheese and cake. Plus a hot drink.

If the skies are clear, we'll then head up to the Dark Sky Discovery Site at Mynydd Llanllwni. The site forms part of the Cambrian Mountains Astro Trail established in 2019.

Once again, Allan and his team will be at hand to set up telescopes for us all to use. Please feel free to ask questions as you enjoy a close-up of far away places.

Please car share if you can and park up safely at the designated/marked parking spots.

We cross our fingers that Sunday night the 24th of September is indeed a cosmic night for all and that we all get to enjoy the 'greatest show on Earth'.

Please bring warm clothes, hats, gloves and warm jackets. Also bring a head-torch, ideally with a red light setting.

FREE tickets for the event available by contacting Dafydd on 07748 675798 or email dyfodolcambrianfutures@gmail.com 35 tickets only.

Thank you to Brechfa Forest West Community Wind Farm Fund for supporting the four events so far.
